Hi all, this is my first post. I bought a 02' 3500 DRW w/ 85k miles last week from a local DC dealer. The exterior is in very good shape and it came with a goose neck hookup. The interior is emaculate so I figured the previous owner must have taken pretty good care of it. This is my first CTD and I'll be using it for a farm truck and general purpose work truck. I test drove it twice on different days and everything worked perfectly... of course, but I knew something was bound to pop up. I joined TDR cause I figured I'll need a little help from you guys who are experienced owners.

Ok, here's the hiccup. I go out and crank up and wait a couple min for the engine to warm up a little before I back out of the drive way. I'm not feeling any power steering and no power brakes as I back out into the street. I pull back up into the driveway, put it in park, and turn the wheel side to side. Hmmm, pwr steering and brakes are back. I'm wondering what's going on at this point. Afterwards, I find that about 1/2 cup of pwr steering fluid was puked on the driveway. I wonder why it did this while the truck was sitting still at idle? I checked the resevoir cap, it was on good and there was still fluid in it. I drove it about 10 miles to run an errand and it didn't leak anymore. I'll have the dealer check it out tomorrow. I've got to take it in for another issue... P1693. I learned the key on/off trick AFTER I bought the truck.

I figured now was as good of a time as any to jump in and post on TDR. I'm looking forward to learning all I can about the 2nd gen trucks without any breakdowns :) I can't wait to hook up the trailer and see how the truck pulls.

Ditto on the welcomes, and I bet you will grow quickly to LOVE that truck. I don't ever intend to get rid of mine!

Sounds like the power brake accumulator took a dump on you, mine did what you describe. I'll bet if you shut off the engine and press the brake pedal you will not have the reserve power assist, normally you should have at least a couple of power assisted pedal applications with the engine off. The bad news is it's expensive and you can't just replace the accumulator you gotta do the whole brake booster. Hopefully you can get them to warranty it for you.
