I just installed my Scotty 5 and I'm really impressed with the quicker spoolup and what apears to be lower egt's. I need to drive some more before I say how well it reduces the egt's. One plus that I didn't expect is the truck pulls much better in the midrange, say around 1800 to 2600 rpm.

Sorry I didn't take any pics, I was short on time.

The main reason I made this post was to tell anyone that is debating about which filter to get you should give the Scotty 5 some serious consideration.

Hope this helps. :D

I looked on their site and didn't see the "5" What kind of system is it?

It is basically the same as the Scotty 3.

The main difference is that it fits the 04. 5 through 06's. (fitment problem)

Matt I will see if I can find the link about why it was changed. ;)

On Edit:

Here is a statement from Scotty on a thread from DTR.

When I learned of the change from 04-04. 5 I decided to make a whole new unit for the 04. 5-05 and now 06 trucks as opposed to making an adapter to make it fit the bigger fender inlet. While I was doing that I also made similar tweaks to the 03-04 Scotty 3.

I skipped the Scotty 4, changed everything to Scotty 2, 3 and 5 instead of Ram air 3, went to a heavier gauge material and shaped it for optimum flow.

If you are on a back order list with any of the dealers or distributors, please contact them or let me know when you are contacting us.

I also took the lettering off the units as it was no longer as defined going to the heavier material.

Thanks for being so patient too!

Scotty

I see. . how are those systems on turbo noise compared to an open element such as an AFE?

My son wants to hear the turbo more, he has pulled the ring and removed the "X" piece but its not enough for him.

He straight piped my 03  oh well. Since the scotty pulls from the cowl maybe it would make more noise. What do you think?

Just putting my Scotty 3 on, I could hear the turbo spool up and down. It is louder and can be heard getting in and out of the throttle. My silencer ring and X piece is still in there.

If you really want to hear your turbo sing get a torque tube. The whistle was to much for me and I like the way turbos sound.
