fass has some new things out

what I like is the DDRP series replacement pump

thay have come a long way

keep up the good work fassOo.

I wonder how well it works with the Vulcan big line/LP relocation kit.

Ben

Me too. My second OEM pump is acting flakey since the Vulcan relocate kit was installed, if this would bolt right up, then at least I would get free pumps for the next four years if it quits :)

I may take the plunge and order one from Geno's.

go for fass . the oem pump is just flat out junk

a great engine with a junk pump

fass pumps #@$%!are well made

I agree that the stock LP's aren't the best pumps in the world for our trucks, but I don't want to spend $250 plus shipping to find out that it won't work.

The way the picture looks in Geno's, the pump would be mounted in such a way that would have the inlet side towards the front of the truck and the outlet towards the rear. Not the most ideal set up when cold temperatures are in my future.

I exchanged e-mail with Geno's, the pump should bolt right up to the Vulcan relocate bracket, HOWEVER, Vulcan has told Geno's that they are designing a new bracket because of concerns with the current relocation bracket being too wimpy long term. It sounded like Vulcan/Geno's hope to have a solution for those who did the relocation in the near future.

Vulcan now has the brackets, I got mine and installed the DDRP on the frame rail on Wednesday, probably one of the first!

You have to drill four holes in the frame and then use self threading bolts.

More or less bolted up.

The new compression washers I had were too large of OD to fit into the inlet/outlet counter bores on the DDRP, had to use the old ones.

Because I had replaced ALL of the fuel lines forward of the tank pickup previously, I needed to replace the line from the new pump up to the stock filter location, was about four inches too short. That could of been avoided by leaving a little slack in the lines when I originally did the OEM pump relocation to the frame rail.

Much, much quieter than the stock pump, even with the stock pump using rubber isolators. The DDRP has no rubber isolation, solid bolted to the bracket and the bracket is solid bolted to the frame rail.

So far good fuel pressure measured at the VP44. Runs about 15 PSI +/- 1 PSI most of the time, although I have seen spikes way higher and saw 7 PSI once for a few seconds. I have a SPA digital FP gauge that captures peaks and I believe that is at 37 PSI, however those can be of very short duration that won't be displayed on the digital readout, I have not seen over about 20 PSI on the readout.

I will try to get some photos posted here later today.

I ordered a Fass DDRP from Genos ,Should be here next week with the snow. Just had my third lift pump go south and had to replace it temporariliy with a used spare that still puts out 10 psi. Hope the Fass lasts the 4 years its warranted for.

Would someone post a web link to the manufacturer of the FASS. I've got a fuel leak from my fuel filter housing where the fuel heater wires go in. It's looking like I may have to rip out and replace the whole pump / filter system. Geno's is closed today, and I'm trying to work out how to get my truck back in service.

Has anyone had problems with little to no fuel pressure out of their FASS 150 in cold weather? My gauge is showing about 4-6 PSI, but the pump is humming right along, and the truck doesn't seem to be lacking any power or starved for fuel in any way.

I might have a little frost in the pressure line running into the gauge, but it was working just fine yesterday, so I'm not really convinced that it just up and froze. The temp has been around -10F during the day, and I've had the truck plugged in every night in the garage, so I'm at a loss and hoping it's not the pump.

Got the truck parked for now, but it's my only running 4x4 in the current temps, so any help would be appreciated!

Cummins82, I had something similar happen to mine, but it turned out it was just gelling up. You can read the thread I created here:

https://www.turbodieselregister.com...1998-5-2002/206963-possible-fass-problem.html

In my case I also had a gauge problem, but when my filter was partially gelled up it was acting the way you describe. You might try another known good gauge just to verify yours is working. You might also try pulling your filter and filling it up with something like Power Service 911 additive. If that works then you know it was just gelled. Plugging the truck in doesn't help if the filter is gelled up.

I'm running howes right now, doubled the dose for the cold weather, and like I said, the pressure was normal yesterday, 12-14 PSI. I can pull the filter and put some 911 in it to see if that helps though. Thanks for the suggestion!

I just noticed the AK lol. Was up there in August for vacation, absolutely loved it! I hear we're colder right now that you guys are ;) Last night's temps pegged my gauge at -22F lol

:) Wow, yep, -22F is a lot colder than we've been here in Anchorage lately. Up in the interior it's been pretty cold, but Anchorage is always pretty mild by comparison. It was about 15 here this morning.

Mike

I'm thinking that I may have problems if I try to install this on my truck. Things are tight down there already with the LP relocation kit and a short box and this will take up even more space.

I'm looking at getting this pump, but doesnt it just bolt right into the bracket on the relo. kit? If it works up in the stock location on the side of the block, it should surely be alright on the relo. kit.
