Just got the new Truck Trend... Although the article wasn't the most informative, I did notice that the red 3500 DRW had Goodyear Wranglers on it... what a shame...

Interesting article. Two things I didn't know:

1. The new AA front axle has a smaller ring gear than the current Dana 60.

2. The 2500 is rated at 8650 lbs GVW, down from the current 8800 lbs.

Of course, they could be wrong. They were with the HP/Torque ratings on the '02 PSD manual transmission truck. Of course, I'm a bit biased there... ;)

Seriously though, these are great looking, and look to be the new benchmarks.

is the front axle assembly going to be common for the 2500 and 3500?

Nick, from what I can make out, the front axle will be the AA 9. 25 on all trucks. The rear will be the 10. 5 on 2500s with the 5. 7, all others will get the 11. 5 rear. The front axle max rating is 5500 pounds, the 10. 5 is 10000, and the 11. 5 is rated at 10890 - so axles should not be the weak link in the suspension or driveline.
