I noticed a couple changes on my truck just after hitting 10K. Fuel mileage is getting a little better and I noticed the engine is running smoother and a little quieter. Also the shifting has loosened up quite a bit. I guess it's starting to just get broken in.

This is my 6th new vehicle in my lifetime (5th new truck) and one of only two which never had an issue that required me to visit the dealer. I was a little worried about the oil being a little high on the distick but once i checked it correctly, the oil level is right where it should be.

I has real hesitant to get the 6. 7 at first, but this thing is absolutely 100% defect and trouble free. Now that fuel is down under 3 bucks a gallon again I just couldn't be happier with this truck and am glad that I took the chance and got this awesome 6. 7.

The 18+mpg on the highway, the infinitely useful exhaust brake, and seemingly endless power and torque are just icing on the cake. Looks good, fun to drive, and good quality! Best part is that it's paid for! I love this thing!

You took the chance like me. Love that Electric Blue. Glad your truck has worked out for you and the milage is improving. That's where the 6. 7 should be running. Like to see a 6. 7 gas get that. We know that is highly unlikely.
Had a choice of 6. 7 or 5. 9, I still would have stuck with the 6. 7. It has worked out great for me also. Always looking for better milage and from what I am reading here, it is only a matter of time and some lighting of emission components and higher numbers will be found.
Glad you got the oil reading s working for you.
Just some numbers I found out from a 2008 Ford owner Twin Turbo. He wishes his would get over 10 MPG. He normally runs at the 6 to 8 mpg on the highway. That sucks big time. Fords emissions are burning the environment dry of oil LOL.

My 2008 just turned over 10,000 miles Monday. Monday I pulled my 5th wheel RV from Ft. Worth to NW Arkansas and got 10. 8 mpg at 65 to 70 MPH. Heading down to Ft. worth with a small headwind, I got 10. 2 MPG. A little less than my 2004 5. 9, but there are those features that I really like that the 2008 has.

How do we "check the oil correctly"?????

Hello BHenn, we brought this up in a previous thread. I'll see if I can get it to link for you. https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/6-7l-engine-transmissions-2007-5/206297-dipstick-over-full.html

I find I get the most accurate reading when I leave the truck sit on a level surface overnite. I read it right away b4 I start it up in the AM cold. I take the very first reading before I wipe it down. It seems that the round stick will pull oil up the tube and if you were to read it on a second pull, you are actually getting a false reading from the oil you picked up from the oil drawn up the tube the first time. Just my 2 cents on these round dipsticks.

Flat blades are more accurate, I feel.
