This bilsteins make my 3500 into a whole 'nother animal!! I should have done this a long time ago. What a difference!!Better than new!!! Oo. Oo.

Now what about these Rancho steering stabilizers??? Is that way cool also, notice the difference competence? Really worth the money??

I put on a Rancho RS5404 stabilizer the same time as the Bilsteins. Great combo imo. Only problem is getting the old steering stabilizer off. I had to use a pittman arm puller, but have read here that a blow with a hammer in the right spot will do the trick.

A guy at the RV show in Houston tried to sell me some Bilsteins. I think he said 425. 00 for all 4. I don't know but I thought that was a bit steep. Price did NOT include the installation.

Okie did that price include vaseline???

The group purhase price for the Heavy Duty Bilsteins were $54. 95 net each

price for bilsteins

I don't think i paid anywhere near that. . . ($425). I believe it was around 65 apiece $260. 00 total plus shipping, through " 4 wheel drive center" on the net. I looked up several places on the net, doing a search on "bilstein shocks" and this outfit had the best price.

Group price?????? Should have checked on it through tdr. I guess i got the vasoline.

Bilsteins

I put 4 Bilsteins on my 96 last week. Only been on one decent run with it since then but they are great. Ride and control is much improved and I am well pleased.

Bilstein users: Those of you that installed Bilsteins... . how did you tighten the top end down? I ended up bottoming the top nut to get the guesstimated 30 ft lbs of torque on the nut. I was just concerned I was squeezing that one piece rubber spacer too much. Any comments? Do I need to back the nut up and allow more give? Thanks.

shocks

I bought bilstiens just before xmas from a place in s. cal(brain lapse can't remember name of place) only paid 44. 95 apiece plus shipping total just shy of two billsOo. Oo. Oo.

top nut

JStordahl, My Bilsteins came with two heavy metal washers, two rubber insulators, one metal sleeve bushing and one self locking nut. The instructions said to tighten the lock nut down until the top washer contacted the metal bushing and not to over tighten it. No torque was specified anywhere in the paperwork. I just checked it again to be sure. My 96 is rear wheel drive but I beleive the 4X4s have the threaded rod on the top of the front shocks similar to mine even though a different part number for the shock.

I found a guy at the Tampa RV show selling them for $47 apiece. I thought that might be too high, so I went home wihout them. After pricing them at home I tried to find his card again, but couldn't. I bought them for the best local price - $65 each!

Bilsteins

Dad belongs to some club through Camping World. (A retail store for RV parts and accessories, etc) They have'em on sale right now, don't know the price though. Anyone had both the bilsteins and Rancho RS9000's? What's the difference in ride??? I know the 9000's are more up front and they are adjustable, but I find most people that have them use them on one setting most of the time. I don't do much off roading, but when I do, I'm not totally concerned with being able to adjust the suspension. Another question, are the Bilsteins gauranteed for life like Monroes are??? That would be a big plus for me as well.

J Rowe: I got the 30 ft lbs from the service manual for the top nut on the front shocks. That one piece rubber bushing sticks into the shock bracket/tower from the bottom and the top washer and nut squish down on it. I tried putting the thick factory rubber on the top, but there's not enough thread left for the nut. Just wondering what others have experienced with this combination. Thanks for the input.

Check offroadwarehouse.com. I just got mine in, havent installed them yet. They have a TDR discount. I think like $58 each. Does anyone know if there is a difference between the 2500 and 3500 shocks? My packaging slip shows 3500?? Also am I going to need a spring compressor for the front or can I just jack up the truck by the frame to take the weight off the axle? Anyone done it this way? Just wondering what I'm getting into... . Thanks

shocking truth

Hey all

Just wondering also if anyone has had Bilsteins and Rancho's

Rancho's onsale now. Buy three, get one free.

That puts cost at about $200 a set of four for either.

I don't know for sure about the difference in shocks for the 2500, and 3500; but i do know that there is a heavy - duty, and a regular duty shock that will fit the dodges. I would think the heavy duty would be appropriate for either, but that's just my speculation. . .
