I just got done installing my boost and EGT gauges on my 97 (no mods) and at 70 mpg turning about 2100 rpms, running empty with the engine at operating temps I am making 5-6 lbs of boost and running about 650-700 degrees, ambient air temp is in the low-mid 40s. Upon moderate load (accelerating up an on ramp) I saw 900 degrees and 22 lbs of boost. At idle, no boost and 200-300 degrees.

The boost seems fine, I though the EGT's would be higher???

I just want to make sure the gauges are working properly, so I can get a baseline. I really want to upgrade the airbox, the fuel plate, put in the 3kGSK, but I need to basline this thing first.

If it matters they are Autometer Z-series 0-60lbs boost and the EGT is plumbed pre-turbo in the exhaust manifold per the TST website.

I swapped out the stock bulb in the gauges and put in the green LED's, looks good and matches the stock dash very nicely.

Next project, the KDP... ...

Thanks

Your numbers look fine to me for a stock truck other than a exhaust mod. B. O. M. B. on son... ... ... Andy

BTW... Good idea onthe KDP next, trust me to say it is NOT a cheap repair.

The egt's sound fine. On a stock truck, you really need to be pulling a grade with a load to get much over 1000 degrees pre turbo.

i just put mine in too, where did you get these green LEDs for the install i want mine to match a little better, i put in the exact same thing you did the autometer Z-series boost and pyro, i have to really really try to make it to 850 egt and thats getting on it and trying to get it warm, at idle mine will be about 200-300 with no boost so it seems liek our numbers are quite similar

Ambient temps have a lot to do with EGT's. At 40* I have no problem staying below 1300egt. If it's 100* outside I have to have a feather foot to keep egt's down.

I bought all my stuff from the local speed shop, but autometer makes LED replacement bulbs for all their gauges, about $10 a bulb  . The are nice though.

here's the info on the bulb.
