I just bought the FP150 and a Vulcan fuel line to go from the stock fuel heater/filter to the VP.

My plan is to plum the FP150 into the fuel heater (no filter) and use the Vulcan kit to get from there to the VP. I've read some peoples comments that if you get the FP150, over the FP100, you should bypass the heater element. My thoughts are that as long as I’m getting rid of them damn Banjo Bolts, I should be fine, as the most restrictive points will still be equal to the inlet on the VP44. (I live in MN, and don’t want to go without the fuel heater)

My one Question that I’m not sure what to do: The installation instructions seem to imply that a return line from the VP44 to the tank is no longer needed. My Plan is to leave it in place, unaltered, so that if I ever need to throw the spare pump in to limp home, I can run equivalent to my existing set up. - Thoughts?

You will still need the return from the vp so that stays in place back to the tank as far as running trough the stock filter canister you should be find if you us -8 line from the filter canister to the vp. what is your setup now? Oo.

I intalled one of these about 2 months ago. As DFleming said you will need the return line back to the tank. I did not run my line throught the OEM filter, I was thinking that i wanted to more for the water in the fuel indicator than the heater though. I am not sure if i am missing out on not having the heater, as much fuel as the air dog pushes i would think that it would have to be a pretty good heater to do much good. 35 below zero here today and plugged in my pickup started fine; it is supposed to be 50 below here by the end of the week#@$%! Fuel pressure is now 20. 5 at idle and 19. 5 running 55 not towing, 02, 235 hp, still stock at this point.

My current set up is just a frame rail lift pump from a ford powerstroke after my last lp failular. it works fine, but only till half throttle. Then my pressure drops.

So, how important are heaters than, it sounds like I could do without. The coldest that I expect to ever use the truck is -20. And your running without the heater at -35.

I can't answer your question about the importance of the heater. I was going to look into hooking my OEM filter housing up using the Vulcan stuff you are talking about. Personally, i would like to have a heater and a fuel in the water indicator if it can be done with out slowing down the fuel. -40 here this morning, if i run into problems this weekend i will let you know. That's assuming that starting issues are the only benefit of having the heater; maybe the heater makes it easier on VP or something like that, I'm not sure.

Ok, i'm going to hook mine up. Since one of my reasons for getting the airdog is to help protect my VP, I think I shouldnt go without heat.

I'm expecting pleanty of pressure with the bigger lines.
