Just ordered a Van Aaken module for my truck and I'm wondering if I need an adjustable boost elbow for it. Mark Craig @ Diesel Performance Parts says no, the box does it electronically.

Thanks

It might do the boost fooling electronically but we have a manual wastegate on our turbos (hx 35). So yes if you want to maximize boost at 34-35 psi you will need an adjustable boost elbow. It (the chip) may or may not come with one... . if not I think someone sells them in TDR basement enterprises... . I got mine off ebay for like 20 bucks.

I knew that's the way they worked. That just erks me that he told me I didn't need one. Now I have to find one and order it when he could have just thrown one in for me.

My brother's '01 6sp with edge EZ doesn't have a boost elbow. It will make 32-33psi of boost. He has no egt problems <1200 with BHAF, FASS, and 4" exhaust. The factory wastegate on HO 6sp opens at 26psi but you can build over that with increased fueling and boost fooling. I'd try it without and see what happens.

PMcBride: They said that because the sensor line on the 2002 is short and is steel and difficult to get a replacement elbow in there. (just a thought)
