Couple newbe questions

Hello everyone!

I am currently stationed in Iraq with the 256th Louisiana Army National Guard Brigade. Ordered my truck through the Exchange New Car Sales office out here. Got a pretty good deal. Invoice minus $3,000 rebate, minus $1,000 discount on an '05 3500, QC, 4x4, SRW, SLT, G56 trans. :-laf Delivery date is set for Sept 15. I should be making it home somewhere around that time, maybe a little later. I have been reading all the threads about the G56 delays. Kind of anxious to see what happens with all that. Hopefully my order doesn't get cancelled. Not sure what I am going to do if it does get canceled. Either try to find a used truck with the NV5600 or order one with the 48RE I guess. Just wanted you guys to know that I used a lot of info from this site when I was making my decision on what to buy. Previous truck was 96 Ram Club Cab 1500 4x4 360 V8, auto. I sold it right before we got deployed.

Welcome to TDR and most of all to the world of Dodge/Cummins. You have made some good choices. Good luck on the G56. You got a great price on that 3500 SRW. A very sincere thank you for serving our country. God bless you and keep your head down. Grizzly :)

Thanks for your service to our country! I hope that you are able to get your truck when you return. Stay safe. Mike

Congrats on the new CTD and welcome to the TDR! Oo. You will find all the answers you are looking for right here. Thank you and all your fellow soldiers for everything that you do. I did 3 years at Fort Polk back in 83.

Seth. .

Welcome and Congratulations on the new truck. I am certain it will be everything you desire and will provide endless days of enjoyment. I am on my third one and wouldn't have anything other than a Cummins equipped Dodge. My fist two I had 252,000 and 197,000 on respectively and now my 1998 Quad has just tripped 120,000. You will not find a better bunch of people than here. Also, from me,for being deployed and making sure the rest of us can sleep safely at nite I say THANK YOU!!!... ... . Andy

Seth,

I hope you enjoy your truck as much as I enjoy mine. You made a wise choice. I pray that you and your buddies stay safe and you have our sincere thanks for doing what you do!

Seth, my sincere thanks as well for what you and all our soldiers do to keep us safe. As for the truck, I am new to Dodge and Cummins as well. I love mine and am sure you will yours too. Keep the maintenance up and it will reward you with many trouble free hours of enjoyment.

Side note: I am aweful proud to be a member of a group that truly respects and appreciates what our men and women of the armed forces do for us on a daily basis.

Thank you all for your support. It is Americans like ya'll that make us proud to serve. My truck has already been built and was shipped from the factory in Mexico on May 7th. I am wondering how long it usually takes to ship from Mexico to Louisiana?

Glad your back

I'm sure if you PM Tommygun he will be able to track it for you. Welcome back! Mike

If you don't have an e-mail address for your dealer, I'm sure Tomeygun (note

spelling) would do that for you.

So, who picks up the truck when it comes in?

And - rumor has it that the Commander-In-Chief lurks on this forum! [Lots of

diesel stuff in his inventory!]

Remember a brief story from somewhere or other, that when Lyndon Johnson was

in the White House - he was returning from some military base, being escorted to

his helicopter by a young troop. (Maybe a Mariene assigned to the Pres. helicopter).

Lots of helicopters on the tarmac - and he was headed towards the wrong one.

Escort politely says something to the effect of,

"Sir, your helicopter is over this way",

trying to guide his boss towards the right one.

Johnson's reply: "Son, they're ALL my helicopters!"

Stay safe!

I had set the delivery date for Sept. 15 when i ordered it in Feb. , but it will be there much earlier than that if it has already been shipped from the factory. Since I ordered an '05 I guess they had to build it before they started building the '06 models and shipped it instead of holding it at the factory. I can either have my wife pick it up for me with a power of atorney and ID, but I won't be able to test drive it, or let it sit at the dealership till I return to take delivery, which is probably what I will do. I just don't want my wife to pick it up and when I get home find that it has the vibration at 70mph or something else. :{ Maybe I am just worried about nothing, but I also don't want to go to the dealership to pick it up ant it has 400 miles on it from people test driving it. :( I would really like to get home to find it in my driveway, or get picked up at the airport in my new truck :D

Seth

Are there any TDR members in smenard's area that can go with his wife to test drive it for him? Just a thought. I know it is a big responsibility, but thought it might be nice for the young man to get his wish.

Well my truck is at the Dealership and my wife drove an hour to get there yesterday to take some pictures for me. Oo. Thought yall might like to see it. :-laf We decided not to pick it up until I get home hopfully in September. The dealer will hold it on the lot and no one will be allowed to test drive it. I won't have to pay insurance or the note till after i pick it up. It only has 15 miles on it.
