Attention: TDR Forum Junkies First time diesel owner. Got an 03 Silver sport QC SB 4x4 2500 HO 48re.
LOVE the truck so far (only drove it 120 miles). Power is nice.
Anything I should check out?
I think the alt bracket is the new piece and not the one that cracks.
Need to check the diff. levels also.
I've been reading the forums for awhile preparing so not sure if I remember anything else that is a common problem to look for.
How long should I go before changing the oil? In the past I've always changed about 500 miles or so on a new truck, then normal intervals. Any input?
And as far as the whole gas mileage discussion. The dealer filled it up and I reset the MPG calc. Going 75 for about 15 miles it got up to 15. 9. Then the rest of the way was 65 and it topped out at 17. 8 mpg. I thought that was pretty good for the first tank from what I've been reading.
