I recently bought a '92 W-250, auto, extended cab, longbed (well, aluminum flatbed now, but it was originally a longbed). The truck is stock right now, but as my Jeeps will show, nothing stays that way long in my possession. :)

I bought the truck because I am moving from CO to WA next month and I need something to pull the 28' enclosed gooseneck... the Geo Metro sure won't! :p After the move, the truck will be a tow rig for my Jeeps and just a general purpose truck... and a fun diesel to play with! I'm thinking about making biodiesel or even running straight WVO... we shall see... lots of ideas.

You'll see me poking around in here... I'll be assimilating as much info as I can before doing anything major to the truck. I'm already looking into gauges... and thinking about exhaust/intake and such... the required stuff before turbo/injector/pump mods. ;) Before those, though, there are some repairs to be done... there's a leak in the steering gear box, the transmission drops out of OD at light throttle, some dents and dings, cigarette lights don't work, needs towing mirrors, blah blah blah... the usual stuff for a 14 year old truck.

Back to reading through old posts! :D

Welcome Zed

I've owned one for awhile but finally decided to start the mods, this site has been the most valuable tool for the cummins dodge that i've found, the knowledge base is unequaled anywhere, keep us posted on upgrades so we can share in the experience. :)

Welcome Mikey. I'm into going retro with my recent purchase of a '93 CTD equipped pretty much like yours. I've had a '91, 95, 99, 03, 05, and now the '93. I still have the '99 & '05 both pumped up to some degree.

I bought the '93 for a beat around truck, and the old reliable stock mechanical CTD was the appeal. Mine will stay stock. It's 130K young, and I expect it will go to at least 300K before the body falls off. The engine will last longer than the rest of the truck. :--)

Thanx for the welcome!

I'm planning on modding the truck for towing use, primarily. Already looking into a Mag Hytec diff cover for the rear and possibly a transmission pan, too... don't want to overheat the poor beast!

Gauges...

Great choices! You might also consider a set of gauges as they will be a great help as you tweak things... . WARNING: Tweaking first gen trucks may be addictive. :-laf

Oh gauges are definitely on the list! That's one of the reasons I like the Mag Hytec stuff... the diff covers are setup for temp sending units... I'd assume the transmission pan is similarly endowed. I think those two are first on my list for gauges, transmission and diff temps... then pyros (pre and post turbo)... and a tach, damn it! I need a tach! :p

You know, these guys are embarrasing me here..... I USED to be the first to welcome the new members/parishoners but they keep beating me to it lately.....

WELCOME TO THE RANCH... PULL UP A CHAIR AND HAVE A WOBBLY POP IT'S GONNA GET WILD FOR YOU BUD

Oh, don't forget to take your medication around these guys either..... wacked out bunch if ever I seen one... :D:D:D

Pb... ... Our Lady Of Acceleration Church... ;)

Heheh... well, Bob... I quit taking my meds long ago. :D Sounds like I'll fit in nicely!

I just wanted to say that one problem is already resolved on my truck thanks to the info available via the search function! (OMG, a newbie who searches! :p) I have fixed the dropping out of OD problem I had. The TPS was HORRIBLY out of adjustment. I guess the shop that replaced it (previous owner had the TPS and OD solenoid replaced a while back) didn't realize that 0. 14V at rest is NOT what the TPS should be putting out. Adjusted it up to 1. 0V and the truck shifts great now! w00t! It took longer to grab my multimeter and 10mm wrench than it did to fix the problem. Hehe... looks like I have to deal with the PS fluid leak now. :D
