Smarty Revo settings

Which Fuel Pressure Gauge?

I got my brother to buy the Smarty for his 06 6speed, so I did the software update (2. 08a moderate). I set my Banks Six Gun with speedloader to stock and loaded the level 5 software on my truck. Well now I see why everyone loves thier Smarty's, it will put a huge grin on your face. So I think the Six Gun is going to have to go soon, the Six Gun is a good product and is a low impact power adder, the truck doesn't get too stressed and it runs very smooth on all settings. One thing is that I live in Los Angeles which already has a pretty bad smog problem and I was dumping alot of smoke anytime I punched it even a little, I only tried level 3 and 5 and both were leaving some decent size clouds in the rearview, I would feel a little guilty polluting as much as 20 Toyota Priuses. Also the EGT's were hotter than with the banks, I was hitting 1300 quite easily. I am wondering if you guys think the smarty is good for a truck that is a daily driver, I rarely tow and have around 600lbs in the bed most of the time, I have done intake and exhaust mods and an egt gauge and that is all I plan on doing, I can't really afford to have the truck break down due to overstressing the drivetrain, also any discussion about the pros and cons of leaving clouds of diesel smoke anytime you punch it, thanks.

got my smarty last week. i have an auto and have been driving on level 3. if i use the tow haul mode and punch i can leave a nice cloud however under light exceleration, there is no smoke. the low end fueling is crazy. i too can't wipe the grin off of my face. when my friends ride with me, all they say is "floor it, floor it"

the smarty is great only had two tanks of diesel ran with mine and mileage is up. not to mention it makes it alot more driveable. your safe id say up to about a 100hp on the stock clutch, i ran the edge juice hot box which is 150hp on my 03 for along time, guess it depends on your driving habits too.

I will make someone a good deal on my Six Gun, it has the speedloader and I will include a thermocouple, I think it cost me around $650.

If you want reliable operation I suggest some kind of upgraded lift pump. Your factory lift pumps cannot keep up with the fuel demand of anything over about 60hp over stock. I run them even on stock trucks because I have had 1st hand experience with lift pump problems and the avalanche effect a weak or bad lift pump can cause.

I suggest a FASS or AirDog system because of the warranty they offer compared to everyones elses lift pump kits.

see my posts regarding SMARTY & excessive smoke. I was given many suggestions on the software settings for the SMARTY that you might want to try. I haven't been able to figure out how to get the REVO software in to my SMARTY yet to see firthand. SMARTY has great off the line throttle response and company has good customer service.

I can understand the smoke issue your having but you have to look at it in a couple different ways. You download smarty and truck feels fantastic so out of excitement and joy you drive the truck alittle different(more aggressive), I was guilty of the same thing when I realized I don't even have to give it 1/4 throttle for the truck to move, the off the line, highway acceleration(passing) smoke clouds were gone. You almost have to adapt to the smarty and change your driving habits totally.

I'm still running one of the more aggressive beta programs from awhile ago the one that feels like level 9 but its on 3:) for daily driving and it doesn't smoke unless I want it to smoke;). This has been my experience hope it helps.

seems like lugging at 1500rpm and having to accellerate from there produced smoke in my situation regardless of how gently I ramped up the power. I think oversize tires and 3. 73 gears contribute to this problem. It's all about the sweet spot for RPM's.

I've had my smarty for a few weeks with revo loaded. have to leave it on level 1 do to stock clutch wont hold any level one. mine slips in 5-6 gear. but i still love it. need to call south bend for clutch next week.

I cant go past program 2 or it smokes like a frt train plus the Smarty only gives a Calif S. O. motor a 130hp gain on level nine and nothing but smoke, its actually embarrassing

You need to stack that Smarty with some pressure. The best box for that is a TS MP-8. My '03 really liked the combo. The pressure will lessen the smoke because the fuel atomizes better. That is my experience...

On Imler's dyno, the 130 hp program gave me 143hp, IIRC. Mine was a HO from Nevada, but I don't think it makes much of a difference. All that I've read is that the overall hp numbers should be similar between HO and SO motors with similar mods, meaning SO motors actually gain more than HO motors. Perhaps there's another issue with your truck that is exacerbated by the Smarty?

No, even in the Smarty liturature it says the Ca. S. O. maxes out at 130hp gain with the Smarty thats why I am back with my TST ( I gained over 250hp with my TST box )

I am currently running the Smarty on level 2 cause anything above that smokes like a frt train, but I do like the reduced torque mgmt of the Smarty it definetely smooths out the acceleration/ drivability and the stacked with my TST

What were your numbers on the dyno?. Bob Wagner chime in hear about the SO & HO power number debate, I know you have talked about this many many many many many times but I think some need to here it one more time. And the smoke issue I must be LUCKY or I'm one helluva driver cause I can only make it smoke when I want to even when the motor lugs.

Yes, it's the same for the HO. When I had it on Imler's dyno, the Smarty gave me 143hp over stock. Stock I was at 247, Smarty on 9 alone at 390-ish.

When I started cranking up the TST timing and HP/TQ levels, we got somewhere around 480-ish hp before the truck started to pop. At the time I had stock sticks and CP3.

My truck made much better numbers on a Dynojet 248 because the run was much quicker. I didn't drain the rail on the dynojet and got 555/960.

well got tired of having too run smarty on level 1 only orderd my south bend dd 3250 the other day. any one know a rep shop in the san diego aera to do the install. id like to do it my self but lack a trans jack.

The best box for pressure may be the EZ,

With the same electronics, HO/SO are = as far as HP. The only reason the SO has larger gains, is because it started lower to begin with.

As far as 03/04 SO/HO only making 130 vs 170/230 by 04. 5+, mostly has to do with the stock turbos, 03/04's could not produce enough air to burn all the fuel Smarty was providing, upgrade the turbo and they are equal.

TST will make the SO and the HO =, the only reason the SO can see a larger power gain, is it starts off lower to begin with.

I do like My TST, IF it had ,TM,TQ, it would be a contender.

You can try JT Diesel truck service, but I'm driving to Brown's Diesel in Central Ca to have mine done when its time. I don't really know anyone experienced in G-56's around here. I spoke to Richard up there and was won over by his courtesy and reputation.
