I replaced my leaking fuel filter water drain valve last week for the second time in my 01.

In the kit are 4 new small torx head screws, a new fuel filter o-ring and the valve.

Cummins / Fleetguard P/N 395945300 S ~ $15. 00 at local Cummins Store.

I had a little problem tightening the bottom screw on the passenger side and thought I had it tightened up Ok. Washed the area under the drain tube, of fuel, and my phone rings, I answered the call and after the call I forget to check for leaks before I pulled the truck into the garage for the night. Next day I took off and at my first local stop 8 minutes later I look over the left front wheel and to my horror I see fuel all over the front axle pumpkin. #@$%!

Back home, I found that the lower problem screw had stripped threads upon removal. O-boy, what to do now. Visions flashed through my brain that the threads in the fuel filter had stripped out and I was going to be buying a new fuel filter. Then I thought to try a new torx screw in the bag. It worked just fine and the leak was fixed. Oo.

The moral to this story you all ready know. CHECK THE REPAIRS BEFORE PUTTING TRUCK BACK INTO SERVICE.

Members here have helped me in the past and I just wanted

to help repay that help with this little reminder.

Cheers,

Tom
