Has anyone had good results with a K&N air system? With high fuel prices, even a mile per gallon would be a help.

Here we go again... ... ... ... ... ... .

Hopefully not !!! :-laf

Best, welcome to TDR !!!

It would be useful if you edit your signature, using the user control panel under the "discussion forum" list at the top of each TDR web page, with the basic info about your truck, you know... year/model, other upgrades.

After that it would be wise to FIRST use the search function here on TDR, also under the discussion forum menu.

There is ALOT of info and opinions here on TDR, most all of which has already been expressed in extreme detail. While people usually have no problem answering your questions, it is REALLY easier to search first and ask questions later.

99% of the time you will find your question already answered in an existing thread. If, of course, you don't. go right ahead and start a new thread!!!

All that beign said, most people here on TDR, as well as Cummins Inc, and Dodge, will STRONGLY recommend to stay away from oiled air filters in general, including the K&N in particular. Only a handful of people have good things to say about them!! You will see this when you read the thread that JimW links to in his above post.

I installed a K&N when I first got my 02. I checked the tubro inlet & noticed it had an oily feel on the blades. This was before I had ever tried to clean it. Needless to say a OEM filter went back in & that is all I use. My experience.

Ok I guess I will put My 2 Cent's in also Not even GM from Australia will use K&N on there car's or truck's down there I know the general Manager Personally and he said that they Proved that the filter let's in Way to much dust to run he said There Junk and to stay away from them .

I should have included this in my first post to this thread. Having more clean air available would really help fuel mileage on old carbuerated vehicles. Not so much for computerized gassers or diesels.

The stock filter system on these trucks is good for around 500 HP. Now, how much better filtering do you really need for daily driving?
