To all of you guys running a K&N 0880 on your trucks, how did you mount the filter to the truck?

Real easy,
I put a piece of 4 inch PVC pipe in the end of the filter, worked the turbo hose over it and tightened the clamp.
Here's a picture if it helps

So if you just put a small piece of 4" PVC in the filter intake, the filter will stay exactly where you want it to? Without any way to attach it to the body of the truck?

The tension of the turbo hose holds it in place for me. The end of the filter rests right against the cowling, right where you would cut the hole for the Psycotty setup

just to add my 2 cents. Jump on the pre-filter. I've had mine on since day one and the filter looks brand new. Thanks to Vaughn for such a generous offer.
Looks like I need to clean that pre-filter.

Psychotty..... The filter came poorly oiled from K&N, with white spots galore. Had to recoat before install. Guess their quality control was out to lunch.

I guess I'm a foam hacker.
Cut a wedge of ethafoam into the corner; glued a cylinder of foam to the end of the K&N. Then cut a notch for the "end piece" to rest in. Looks like the photo, but the end hidden behind the filter has a post that acts as a positioning tab. Seems to work, but there is some wear on the hood insulation immediately above the foam precleaner - just a small amount, nothing serious.

You'll all be interested to know that the K&N does not meet Cummins specifications for filtration. Even better, neither does the Fleetguard one. I have used K&Ns in my vehicles for ten years now and I shall not cease to use one in my truck. I've had the head off and there is no evidence of particles passing through the filter and scuffing up cylinders. No dirt buildup at the throat of my turbo after 70K miles with a K&N in it. You couldn't pay me to switch back.

I like the setup in the above picture, but don't you loose some of the benefits of cooler air by not taking the air input through the fender well?

Hal

I finally put one on my truck, AND I LOVE IT. Took me 30 seconds to install because I just put the nose of the cone in the corner brace under the hood. Seems to work great and I can REALLY hear my HX-40. Now it really turns head when I pass people. I highly recommend it!

Yeah, I like that too. Made my HX40 sound like a 747 at full thrust when I put my foot into it. With the sliding rear window open, you can hear it really well, too.

Hey Vaughn, "SOLD!" I could use the red K&N prefilter for a dunce cap (for buying that stupid Prime-Loc system). LOL #ad

PS: check's in the mail... ... ... ... ... ... ... . for the fuel hose kit for Rob's friend. #ad
