Im thinking about purchasing a k31 for a twin setup. I started to google this turbo and it seems like this is the turbo Detroit uses on there 60 series 500hp diesels. I've found a few price around $850. My question is: are the k31 Detroit turbos the exact same turbo that a few of our performance diesel business friends are selling for $1200???? Ive even got a connection through Detroit so maybe... . if this is the same turbo I can get it even cheaper that $850!

check all features to be sure ,like wastegate or not and wheel/housing sizes. Other than porting there may be no diff.

Some of the performance shops change housings for using the K31 as a single and then the price goes up.

However the twins primary use a K31 will have the oem housing and should only run you into the $800 area.

So the K31 that II is selling for $1200 is an oem turbo?, and the K31 Hybrids are the ones they modify?

Im just trying to confirm that the K31 they are selling is stock and charging $400 more because they can and people don't know any better.

The K31 performance turbo is an out of the box OEM turbo marketed by Borg Warner... .
The part number is 172743 and can be picked up from any Borg Warner dealer.
It features a forged milled compressor wheel and a 1. 28 A/R wastegated housing.

I bought my spare K31 on ebay for around $550 as I remember.

You can google the part number and borg warner and several different websites will pop up offering them for sale.

I can't speak for what II is selling... ... ... draw your own conclusions.

I know II twins are the K31 and the ps62, but has anyone used the sps62 inplace of the ps62? II told me it wouldn't work because it would surge too much?? I didn't know there was that big of a difference between the ps62 and sps62.
