I was recently looking through Geno's garage catalog and thought the Exhaust blanket looked like it might work to shield the Mopar Guy Air Fliter from some of the heat.

The disclaimer at the bottom of that ad said "Does not fit California EGR equipped engines"

I guess my question would be what is so different about those that the cover wouldn't fit??

I thought the pollution controls were all done by the ECM/PCM??

Kinda new to all this and was wondering.

TIA, Garrett

Well, I have a 2001. 5 ETH truck, have owned it since September 2000. I installed the Hitco exhaust manifold blanket from Geno's garage back in March of this year, fits perfectly. Even over my HX40 turbo. I am happy with it.

Garrett,

I believe that refers to '96, '97, and '98 CA 12v engines. They have a tube from the exhaust manifold to the EGR valve on the intake manifold. That would get in the way of the blanket. I don't believe the 24v engines have this goofy thing.

Joe's right- The EGR return pipe extends from the top of the exhaust manifold toward the firewall, goes right over the valve cover and enters at the intake manifold. It's ugly, useless and fell off somehow when I loosened a few things. Now it doesn't seem to fit with the Twin Ram:D    :D The blanket will interfere with this mess unless it is removed. It does howvevere effect only '96 and 97's.
