I came up with the ultimate transmission for diesel racing, the old proven LENCO planetary trans. They make a streetable version and let you pick how many speeds AND their ratios. The pro stock boys use the Lenco's, the best part is just grab a lever to go to the next gear, no clutching, absolutely no loss of boost, since you never let off the throttle.

But you can't build boost on the starting line with a clutch is the only problem. And what a PIA to drive around with lol. If someone will ever come up with a postive stop short throw shifter it will help more than anything. All the NV4500s I have ever driven don't seem to mind stomp shifting you don't lost any boost if you don't let out . But you still can't build boost on the line

emarsh , i called lenco , unless something has changed they said their trans would not really be a good choice , the biggest problem is no overdrive gearing . with that in mind you would have to revert back to a 3. 08 rear gear , which i doubt is available in a race gear or a REALLY big tire to drop the gearing ... plus the boost out of the hole issue , but i guess if you dropped the hammer at 2000 rpm plus there would be boost very quickly ...
