Competition Power edge comp @ 275 RV inj. make 401 HP

Hey there. I'm really trying to persuade Mark to let me take the white Dodge to the strip this weekend, as it's the last Test N Tune of the year here.

I see you're running the same tire I believe he is... what's your launch technique? I won't have long to figure out what works, so maybe you could provide me with some insight.

So he launches in 4-hi, then pushes it into 2-hi after the 1-2 shift or what?

We're going to put Super Mentals in it today... I really hope they let me take it to the track. :D

Sorry been busy -

with the truck, possible relocation with work, and on the "edge" of getting sick.

Now before I say a word, I will tell you how I launch but I have been warned over and over that its possible to break things doing it this way. And honestly I am still trying to "perfect" the launch.

What I do is... get up there... . put in in 4 wheel on the way to the line (make sure its locked in otherwise it will pop out and scare the hell out you and send the truck sideways) does make for a nice black and white smoke show tho. I always skip the burnout box. I stage... ... and when I see the first yellow I mash the throttle a bit till I see some boost come up..... generally 5 to 7 lbs and then on the 3rd yellow I mash it to the floor and let off the brake..... I have never seen above 10lbs launching, but with the turbo I had... . I was at 30lbs of boost instatly, hence I think thats what did my turbo in. I shift out of 4 wheel drive after the 1-2 shift. Don't lift off throttle just shift out of 4 wheel. I did make 10 passes in 4 wheel drive back when I first started tho.....

You will have to change your techniques to match how the truck you drive is setup. My info was compiled from a few different members input on here. They know who they are, but not sure if they want me to say since they PM'ed me the info.

So far the only thing I have broke is 1 turbo... ... and I have about 33 passes or so.

i hope bill's not looking , he gonna give me a tongue lashing ...

keith , don't go any higher than 10 psi , or 1700-1800 rpm ,i find it a pain to watch the tac , or boost and the tree at the same time , next season i'm going to rig an electric solenoid to do the rpm thing while i watch the tree ...

if you bring it up to the stall , around 2100 , make sure you have a trailer to get home as the ouput shaft will twist right off . don't think i need to tell you how i know that

all you have to do is lightly push the 4wd lever forward , pops right into 2wd .

try a couple practice runs in a deserted parking lot or road to get the feel ...

PS - this will get you labeled as a "lunatic" as well :)

And it will also get the people in the stands going... . "That jsut can't be!"

On my 13. 48 pass it was against a Mustang GT..... I don't have video of it..... but he got it handed to him hard... ... He left before me and I blew by him as you can see below :

#ad

And actually thats my "best" everything timewise... . so in therory my ¼ mile time should have been its best..... maybe I shifted out of 4 wheel late that run or something... I dunno.

Keith, avoid the burnout box, unless you have slicks. Just running through the water, or even doing a burnout on street tires, may cost you needed traction. That's advice from a friend of mine who 's an IHRA champion...

Man I'd love to be there and see it in person!

Maybe next spring, if you end up relocating to

Texas, we can go to Baytown dragway and whup up

on some ricers and Ponycars! :D

Keith,

I would definately advise you to practice a few times since you have more power than the rest of us. You might need to let it rev a little in 2nd before shifting into 2wd. If I kick mine out of 4wd too early after the 1-2 shift the rear tires go up in smoke.

You might need to wait until 3rd gear. :)

I have been playing with the 4x4 and I don't think that the T-case is really coming out of 4x4 when racing . True the lever pops right out, but I can still feel the truck lurching at low speeds while turning until the light goes off. The light doesn't go off until I take the interference load off by backing up. What do ya think is giong on?

I posted this question under 1/4 mi. times also. I don't think that it is actually coming out of 4x4. Does the NP241 have a direct link to the shift fork like the 205, or does the link just put tension on the fork through a spring or something? The shift out of 4x4 is way to smooth and there is never a "pop" when the tension on the drive train should be relieved. I doubt it is really coming out of 4x4. We need an expert on the NP241 to tell us how it works. I will try to find out also.

I think you are half right. I dont think the front axle has enough a$$ to split under full power, and that is what you are feeling.

I have a 5spd. my plan is to shift out of 4hi between 3rd and 4th gear. that way when i let up to shift for 4th it should disengage.

MM do you mean the output for the front driveshaft? I heard they are kinda weak.

I have been practicing launching at 1800, seems to work well.

Boy that technique sounds alot like mine!??!!?!?! But I used to see 20 to 23 Lbs of boost at the line. Those launches were fun!

I wouldn't say it was like yours... ... although I was slowly, slowly getting closer to how you told me you launched :D As I mentioned above..... my info was gathered from about 5 different people... ... . you being one of those 5 Greg. Much more then 10lbs off the line spins them in 4wd for me.

Where ya been? you been kinda queit?

Do you have ANY video of drags or dynos laying around of me? I need some new material please :D Really really would like to get my hands on that 13. 44 run video.

Thanks

What am I talking about? Um well lets see I broke the bottom half of a piston off it shot the rod through the pan through the side of the block and well ruined my fun! Oh well it was a fun ride while it lasted 131 recorded 1/4 mile passes about 100 passes on the street I have every time slip I keep in a folder some are good some are bad but it was alot of fun.
