I am stationed down outside of Panama City, Florida. I called back down there since I am on leave back in Iowa, and the boss told me that the water levels had gone up 5 ft already and that was around noon today. I have a funny feeling that New Orleans won't be the same for a few years and for the most part, the entire coast from the TX-LA border all the way to the AL-FL border. I am glad that I am not down there for this.

I have a buddy in Pass Christian. It is between New Orleans and Biloxi. From the map I saw in the news paper, it almost looks like a direct hit. If anyone has any links specific to this area, let me know.

Us in the NW corner of AL made it pretty good. Just trees and leaves blown around for the most part. Some power outages, but compared to those south of us, we got a sprinkling of rain and a slight breeze. They did get hammered, so everyone please continue to pray for them.

Unbelievable! That video is sobering. It's amazing that the death toll isn't much, much higher. I know help is on the way, but it must seem an eternity for those there.

There is no time to count dead folks... It is a rescue mission like no other... ... . This is an event of biblical proprtions... . Believe me... . Please organize help ASAP..... THIS IS FOR REAL FOLKS..... PLEASE HELP>>>PLEASE PRAY... ..... ALL OTHER HURRICANES DONT COMPARE TO THE SUFFERING THAT THIS ONE HAS/WILL CAUSE..... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE HELP... ... . Thanks so very very much

Pumperdude, we have friends in Metairie. I moved away from Baton Rouge last year. All of the footage I am seeing is of the Quarter and gulf coast. What shape is the Metairie – Kenner area in? Also, how are you able to get online? I thought all services were shut down! Best of luck to you, We lost plenty when Andrew went through, I know its not fun…

Luckly all my relatives got out. N. O. , Metarie, Tickfaw/Hammond.

God Bless those that didn't.

We are sending money to the Red Cross. Hope it helps.

Kenner and metairie are toast... ... the whole city is toast months and monthes before we even get back... ... Im lucky ... i have my family... all our houses are under water... . my son lives in baton rouge. we are all here for god knows how long... . i feel very very lucky to be alive though..... anyone who lives in and arround NO can be prepared to take residence elsewhere for a long long btime

I understand the impatience and overwhelming feeling of hopelessness but I pray people can get ahold of themselves and stop shooting at rescue helicopters and rioting with police and guardsman. people are there to help and those doing despicable things are costing lives, maybe even there own.
