I'm selling my late model 02 with 4 wheel disk breaks and figure the Kelley Blue Book value of about $16,000 for the same truck in good condition (which doesn't include about $2000 in up grades) should be a fair price. I'd be interested in comments.

Listed at $15300 retail and $10 + for trade in. I assume retail means price from a dealer. But the prices listed at local dealers are more in line with the KBB value or higher. But then they have reconditioned the trucks and would probably take a good 10 percent less. That brings the price in a private sale to around $13000. Whew. Sound right?

Here is the one flaw in your theory... .

To actually find out what your truck is truely worth on the open market value wise, you need to find someone who does alot of used vehicle auctions. Thats the real world price and then you can mark it pricewise accordingly for your options and milage.

Out here used second generation 24v trucks in your year are bringing around 11-14k at the big auction houses where the dealers shop. Average retail or private party retail will then be determined by what the truck will need to prep it for sale and whatever mechanical and body related items need attended to. An 02 3500 under 100k and a 6 speed would command 17-20k IF it was clean and not smoked in. The price would then drop accordingly with milage increases and if it was a owned by smoker or not.

You also have to keep in mind that all of your accessories and performance parts when sold will only usually only net you about . 50/dollar of what your initial investment was.

However,I also look at it this way,its your truck, only you know what you have in it and what its worth to YOU. No matter what a dealer or private individual says its worth, its true value is what you can get to make you happy. Good Luck... ... Andy

Hammer, mine's an auto. Very clean, that is no body damage and the paint is 99 percent excellent. It would detail looking very nice. How much do you figure the automatic would drop the price.

Are you avoiding listing the odometer miles? Mileage makes a big difference and may be taken into consideration on the automatic transmission as well.

This is the full description and no I'm not motivated at 13k. Just trying to get a feeling for a fair price (for me and a buyer).

2002 dodge 3500 4x4 diesel slt quad cab, silver, in good condition, auto, drw, camper pkg. , 85000 miles, carefully driven and maintained. Upgrades: brite box, fass fuel pump, double deep trans pan, trany temp and fuel pressure guages, van attken timing box, new injection pump, DSS track bar bracket 3rd gen track bar, newish ball joints, 2 new batteries , good toyo at tires, DSS steering stabilizer, new ranchos with in-cab adjustment controls.

I understand not being interested at the 13K but it never hurts to ask, I think someone wanting a nice truck would give $16k or better for your truck with the upgrades you've done, good luck
