Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) KDP cracked my timing gear case!

The KDP Cracked my timing gear case and I have tore everything off the front of the engine, I am just trying to get the cam shaft out and need some directions for doing this. Any help would be great thank you!#@$%!

You need to remove the lift pump to pull the cam. If you don't have a factory service manual get one.

Best advice after having spent 5 weekends doing what you are facing, PATIENCE and STUDY the technique to safely lift the tappets, you don't want to drop one of those.



Fixed w/new case about 3 years ago, all is well.

I have been trying to find the directions that my brother used for his... but I can't find them at all. . I have searched the forum, but can't find anything that tells me how to take the cam shaft out so I can finish the rest of this project that has cost me so much time and money I just want it to be over with so I can drive this truck again. Like I said earlier all that I have to do is pull the cam shaft out and the injection gear to pull the housing off. Any links to sites or links to pictures would be great. Thank you!

This is my repair, the scariest part is working with the tappets, take a carefull look at the dowel rod photo and technique. IIRC, someone (not us) broke a dowel off inside the tappet, BE CAREFULL.



Others on the forum are repeat experience based, mine is based on one experience.

Thank You GCRoyal... . I have been searching for a long time. You have just helped me get a truck running that has not been running in a year and a half. Oh how I have missed that CTD power. The little Yota is not cutting it anymore.
