I just got the KDP jig and in the process of using it, I discovered that I’m too late. It has already laid claim to another victim.

I bought the truck 2 months ago, and this could be why I got a good deal on it. The truck runs very well for being stock.

I don’t have the funds to do a complete repair yet. I wanted to get experienced people to say how important to get this repaired right away or can I wait for a rainy day (or week) to do the repairs?

I can do it, but I’m not the fastest tech out there. I have seen pictures of the amount of work required.

Any recommendations for other repairs, or for bombs to perform, when during this procedure?

Thank you for your input.

Bud

It looks like my picture posting skills are flawed. can anyone advise what I'm doing incorrectly for posting pictures?

What I do is open the website twice, one to the thread I am on and one to the picture gallery. You open up your picture and at the bottom it says "forum codes" click on that and a third page will open, you need to copy which size you want I usually use the second one down (2"). You then click on IMG on the new reply page and paste that information in there. Here is your picture

I've got a friends 98 12 valve in the shop right now with a oil puddle under it. I'm waiting for the snow to melt off before I crawl under but with a 4" dia oil puddle under it at every stop I already know what it is. The KDP has long arms and if it aint got you yet it will. I feel your pain Bud.

Often the dowel is jammed between the cam gear and the case, where it gets worn down. You should remove the stamped cover and get the dowel out of there. It is of course less work than removing the front end, rockers, and camshaft to r&r the gear case. You need to change the case fairly soon. Next from flex the case will break underneath near the vacuum pump. It is also fairly common to break off one of the bolts holding the injecton pump/vacuum pump brace onto the block again, from vibration.
