Finished the KDP fix today using the retaining tab method.
My truck is a 94 3500 and when i got the cover plate off and checked the dowel pin, it was actually below the surface, not sticking out as many have described. Also, could not find any loose bolts.
I'd like to thank some of the TDR members for helping me get this done, especially Joe George for answering my e-mails. Both Joe and R. ebel for their sketches of the retaining tab.
Even got the coolant changed, with no trapped air,so it was all wothwhile and now I can drive it with "peace of mind".
Thanks Guys, for your help!!
