By your sig, 98. 5's are possible candidates for the problem Dowel pin. the new gear case was to be used with the 24 valve engine. But they continued to use the old case till they were gone. so if you are concerned, your are not out of the woods. do it with a jig if your crank seal is not leaking. This is what the guys are doing now and when the seal needs replacement and the cover is off they tab it and check all the bolts inside for the proper torque which is 18 ft lbs. not much, so they all feel lose. do search (on the 12 valve FAQ) here and check # 43 issue of the TRD mag. this subject re-acures very often.
