Well, It appears that a KDP massacre is about to happen this weekend in CT!Cooooool!:D

Thatks to Bob Beauchaine and his transcontinental 1st gen KDP kit, I got darn near a full house full o live KDPs that need killin'!

It happening in Torrington, Ct (where's that?) sunday morning.

Got trucks from all over the northeast comming up for the "event".

Started as a thread where I was looking for a jig... . turned into a big thing.

I love it!!Oo.

Bob, my problem now is aquiring enough screws!

By the way folks, I have never done this, but it looks like a relatively easy project, thatnks to the great TDR folks, Mr Beauchaine, and all the guys who posted pics and instructions.

I'm looking forward to a very successful day.

Anybody who's attending, do you have a digital camera??? We need to post some pics.

Jay we played that game at Piers's place last Saturday after attempting mine I gave AlK a bit of a hand KDP killed in just over an hour. :D bill

Torrington is probably a bit too far of a ride for someone like me that lives basically on cape cod isn't it?It's probably too late for a sign up as well right?Man had I been paying attention I could have planned a trip in advance. I would really like to get my KDP fixed. Does anyone know of a KDP party in MA or maybe a bit closer?

Chris,

I will probably be going just for fun. It's around a 3 hour drive for us. Would be a very good idea to get yer KDP killed.

Cheers,

Sean

Good to hear the KDP jig is going to be put to good use. :) The set screws a 3/8 by 1 inch. Once you've done the first ony you will see why I cut the angle I did. They will set flush with front housing and tighten up nicely. Good Luck.

Bob:)

Jay just an up date on the KDP adventure I had last weekend turns out that THE PIN WAS NOT OUT ON MY 91 the early model trucks pre after cooled versions may have a different front cover than the later engines. In speaking with Al at Piers about this he believes the 89 through 91 engines were industrial type units . the gear cover on my engine has an inspection cover on the left hand shoulder about 2or3 inches below were you drill for the kdp. This housing also has a shoulder were the kdp pin goes through the housing and therefore you would not even be able to tab the pin. Al has heard that these motors had a problem with the mounting bolts backing out. This occurred with my motor as we found a broken and abused bolt in the bottom of the housing. bill

I'll bring my wife's new toy. DBF

Bill,

I appreciate the heads up. If I have the inspection cover will I be able to see the shoulder or the pin? Will I be able to inspect for loose bolts?

I guess I'll be answering those questions tomorrow morning.

Did you drill and tap your cover anyway? Or can I assume that if I have the inspection cover that I do not need to do anything for the kdp? That it is already effectively , let's say "neutered" for lack of a better term?
