Who's KDP tab are we using, or the best to use with the 1st gen timing cover case? I have a 90 engine out and already have everything removed down to the timing cover. The dowel pin is either gone or WAY back in there and hasn't moved an inch. I have a new timing cover gasket ready, just waiting on the front crank seal and wear sleeve. . then of course a tab.

Forget the tab... just stake in in place. Use a round flat punch. Put about 1/3 of the punch over the hole and give it a couple of good whacks with a ball peen. Do this in 2 or 3 places around the hole.

It will stay in place.

Or you can use Harold's 1st gen tab. (email me and I will dig up his email if you don't have it). Its bent perfectly and made of thick steel. Don't waste your time or money on the Cummins dealer tab, it is made for 2nd gens and will NOT work on our trucks.

Brian
