Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) KDP tabbed?

Is there any way to tell if the repair has been done?. . Without tearing it down. My father-in-law just got a '98 12V and he wants to risk it. I'm saying not to risk it, the truck only has 100k and it looks untouched, i say tear it down.

For the short amount of time and effort it takes it is for sure not worth the destruction that happens if and when it comes out. It was 4-5 hrs to do mine and I had never done one before. Once you get the serpentine belt, fan, harmonic balancer off, one cover is the only thing left. You can stake the pin in so you dont have to go thru the "tabbing process". Its like the nike commercial. "JUST DO IT" LOL!!!
