Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Kdp?

Ok, dumb question but here goes. When did they fix the KDP? I thought they did but want to be sure. I thought they fixed the 5th gear problem on my truck untill I lost 5th gear 2 days ago. Thanks

I've been told that you're fine if you have an 01, and I've never found one that was'nt the updated case on a 99 or 2000, but there are some.

I think consensus is that all the old cases were used up by the '02 model year.



They introduced the new cover in 00 or 01, but for a while there was a mix of the cases. Why throw the old ones out, it probably won't be a problem?

I talked to a guy today with 98. 5 that has KDP. Will be next the project here.

Is there a way to visually inspect the case/cover to see if it is the old or new design?
