Well I'm lucky. I pulled the timing cover and the dowel pin was over 1/2 out just waiting to fall. I pushed it back in with my finger and tabbed it. The kit I bought from TST didn't include the cover gasket so I used RTV. Hope that's ok, I suppose others have used RTV. Also two of the other case bolts were loose.

Good job! It's always nice to hear when someone pulls a 12-valve back from the brink of disaster. I'm surprised that it went back in with finger-power. Usually you have to tap them in with a hammer and punch.

RTV works OK, although I went with a gasket from Cummins.

I re-used the old gasket and put a thin film of RTV on there to help seal. No leaks yet

I used RTV and it has held up fine, unfortunatley the seal hasn't.
