I guess I stay confused. After a few years of semi-neglect, my 94 is being "restored. " I thought the KDP fix would be easy (ha ha). I remember reading about it in the TDR magazine. I have most of the back issues, but it would take a day to go through them all. Anyone know what issue? Also I believe that fix was the "stake"; now I am reading about a "tab" fix. Which is easiest and best and where do I find instructions?

All you need to do is keep it from walking out the end of the hole. You can stake it, or you can use the adjacent bolt to just block it's exit path.

I just grabbed an electrical ring terminal (minus the plastic) and bolted it down, making sure the pin was blocked in. Replace the crank seal and slap it back together.

Just buy the kit from TST Products, has the tab, bolt, seal, glue, instructions, etc. costs about 50 bux and it's pretty easy to do.

But check out the torque on the bolts. 18' Lbs. is not much but your doing an aluminum/steel thing here and can pull the threads if you go to much muscle here. Tab is the best way to go.
