Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) kdp?

i just ran into an abreviation(sp) that i don't understand (hence the name) what is kdp ? i gotta stay up on this so i'm always ready to stomp my friend's powerstink!

Killer Dowel Pin, A dowel pin in the timing cover on 12 valve and early 24 valve engines, if it comes loose it falls into the timing gears and does a TON of damage.

parcher, it is a problem with more than just the early 24v engines. I read where they had a dowel pin fall out of a 2001 24v engine that led to disaster.



I believe that unless you have a '01. 5 or '02 you had better reassess your KDP concern.
