I received the KDP Jig about three weeks ago. Didn't have time until this past Saturday to get the job done. I have to say that the jig is great. The instructions Illflem put together would let an absolute idiot that wouldn't recognize a CTD two out of three times, unless it was pointed out to him, do the job with no problems at all. Thanks so much, Bill. And thanks for the use of the jig. My KDP was still in proper position - but now I don't have that nagging worry.



One more thing - when someone uses the jig, please clean it and all the parts before you send it on. It's a great jig, and the next person shouldn't have all of your metal filings and grease to contend with when they open the packaging.

hey wcaldwell- good to hear the jig is easy to use cause my son needs it for his 93 D250. how do i get it? i sent a request to the texas guy on the list a few days ago but no reply yet? what part a new mexico you in? i spent many years there.

On that 1st gen truck I would pull the cover. Most of us 1st gen drivers that have pulled the timing cover has found loose bolts in there. We have had two 1st gen members lost camshaft retainer bolts in the last year that caused broken cams.



Case500D and I pulled our covers last fall. We both found loose bolts in our timing covers. One bolt on the camshaft retainer plate we could take out without any effort. This was on both trucks.

I would pull the cover on ANY engine prone to KDP problems. I have found loose bolts on all the ones I have checked. Even if you don't find loose bolts, it is nice to have peace of mind knowing the bolts are tight. If a bolt comes out, it can do as bad or worse damage than the KDP. While you are in there checking the bolts, you can tab the dowl pin and know the job is done right. Spend a little extra time and have added peace of mind that the job is COMPLETE.
