I'm planning on getting the front kit for my 03 (4" lift) and the more I look at the pictures of this setup, the more the bags look very short to me.

I'm wondering how much travel these bags have. From full inflation to resting on the inner bumpstops. Does anyone have an idea? Or at least an approx. measurement of the bags at ride height.

I've been thinking if I'm gonna do air bags, I want something with some travel to it, and from some of the reply's I've gotten it seems as though there is only 4" of travel from the bumpstops (in the bags) to topping out the shocks.

Has anyone tried a bigger bag?

When I asked Jeff Kelderman similar questions the answer I got was 6" travel. I don't recall that being a direct answer but that's what I made of it. 6" bottomed to topped out on the bags. As for the limitation caused by the shocks

Thanks for that thread, some good info.

Baisically I don't mind purchasing the kelderman kit, and don't feel like fabbing anything, not to mention I JUST started learning to weld. I just don't see the point to using small bags w/ a small amount of travel, when firestone has bags with up to about 12" of travel in them from fully inflated to resting on the bumpstops. Although not sure if that accounts for a load or not.

The thing I don't understand is why all the travel? The air system is supposed to give a better ride and adjust the ride height a little. What kinda shocks would you use to cover the 10 inches of travel? Maybe I'm getten old but I just don't get it. I just installed the Kelderman system on the rear of my truck and the most I see I can get there is about 4 ". But then I installed the leveler valve to keep it at the same ride height. And does it ever work!

I want to be able to adjust the height for different situations, and to aide in allowing the suspension to flex (I know it dosen't really flex, but could inflate on bag and deflate the other) if needed.

I mean the space is there for alot of travel, but it's just not utilized.

Oh, and shocks up to 14" travel are no problem.
