Kenwood stereo rack

My brother built a nice '89/90's system complete with turntable/multiple cd changer/AMP/dualcassette/EQ/ALL KENWOOD.

The speakers are Infinity SM153 with18" woofers. What is an older system like this worth? I Know there are many new pieces for sale but the older system is complete and can shake the walls and sound good... . He is looking to downsize to a Bose Wave Radio to save on space with the childern. Any inputs appreciated...

While Bose is known for outstanding stereo equipment and sounds,I did not like the wave radio I once owned. I had it in my previous home that had higher ceilings(cathederal style) and its sound was not for me. My opinion was it was way overpriced for the lofty claims they made. Have him look around a little more,there are way better bookshelf stereo systems for less money with better sound and will allow him to put it up to remove childrens hands on approach to it... ..... um. . i have a few choice words to say to that statment, but i will hold them to myself.



to me, bose is like the dr. performance of the audio world. does the same thing as others but costs 10x more.



those little hand sized jewel cube speakers sound like garbage to me. you can get better sounding small speakers from energy, paradigm, klipsch all with the WAF [wife approval factor] on size calculated in. ... and a powered subwoofer will way outperform that bose passive bass module. no highs, no lows, must be bose at the electronics store i worked at, i can't even remember how many times that was said.



if you go and listen to the bose system and like it, and want it, sure get it. but make your own desicions when buying audio equipment. go with what sounds best to you and not by what marketing advertisment is pushing [and i never made commision at work]





to me, that set sounds like it might go for ±$300. 00 [canadian funds] as a set, but if he were to eBay the components separatly, he may get more [turntables are kinda popular there, especially if it works real well and is in real good condition]
