Does your fan pull air at idle?

Which way do I rotate the pump to advance timing?

I was at my buddies yesterday and noticed that when he changed his fuel filter, he refilled it with kerosene. Asked him about it and he said he had heard its good for cleaning the fuel system. Any truth to this, or is it actually harder on the fuel system?

If it has a VE pump, fuel = lubrication.

What little cleaning action he would get, would be offset by the wear to the pump IMO. Filling the filter is ok, but I would just screw the filter on empty and pump it full with the lever on the lift pump, that way you know all of it was filtered.

ATF is not meant to be burned and I would question the wisdom of adding it to the fuel.

ever hear of a multi-fuel diesel? such as in a military application.

p. s. i have been adding atf to my new fuel filters for ten years and have never had any pump or injector related problems to date. trying to run a pump with air in it will kill it .

I've used kerosene many times in the past. Usually I have that around so it's convenient. I don't think a few minutes of idle time on kero will hurt anything.
