Kerosene will run in your engine. The biggest problem with it is that it does not have a lot of lubricity so it will cause your pump to wear out prematurely. Additionally, it has less BTU's so you get less power and less mileage. The main reason that people run kero is that it is a thinner fuel than #2 diesel so it helps to prevent gelling in the winter. There is some debate as to what is going on this winter because of ULSD but in previous winters, winter fuel has been a mixture of kero and diesel.
