Engine/Transmission (1994 - 1998) kerosene?

Someone at work told me that you could put strait kerosene in my truck and it would run awesome. Im trying to figure out if this is true of false. And if so what are the advantages and disadvantages of doing so?

it can run on it but it is recomended to be use only in emergency not to use as a replacement fuel. some one else may have more fact posting soon.

Kerosene will run in your engine. The biggest problem with it is that it does not have a lot of lubricity so it will cause your pump to wear out prematurely. Additionally, it has less BTU's so you get less power and less mileage. The main reason that people run kero is that it is a thinner fuel than #2 diesel so it helps to prevent gelling in the winter. There is some debate as to what is going on this winter because of ULSD but in previous winters, winter fuel has been a mixture of kero and diesel.

What is the "good stuff" and where can i get it? Isn't #1 red and the best?

I've put diesel fuel in my kerosene lamp, but I dont think I'll put kerosene in my diesel truck... ...

#1 is winter mix... ... ... ... . not as good.

Where can i get #2? isn't it for farm and off road use only?

#2 is summer blend. That is what you will get at stations. Except in cold climates.

#1=winter fuel
#2=summer fuel
Red=off road only fuel (big fines if caught)

Some use ATF and if a cop checks that out, it can be tough to convince them that it is not off road fuel since it will be red. Off road diesel is significantly less expensive since it doesn't have road tax. #2 gets better fuel economy. I don't know how ULSD will change these things.
