Two diesel family

BTU of diesel vs. gas

I know, this should probably go in "Other" forum but "that" forum seems to be for jokes. Besides, kerosine is sorta like diesel.

Anyway, a friend gave me a 55gal drum of kerosine and one of diesel. I know what to do with the diesel but what can I use the kerosine for? I was thinking I could mix some in with my diesel but can I burn it in my oil furnace? I would think cetaine rating would be of no concern to my furnace.

Any hvac people out there?

I work for an oil company. When we have an out of oil call in the middle of the night we'll dump 10 gallons of kero in the tank. It wont hurt a thing, actually burns cleaner.

Larry why don't you just buy a bunch of kerosine lamps, cut down on your power bill? Your kids will love you when you tell them how Abe Lincoln did his homework by the light of a kerosine lamp after walking 14 miles one way from school each day. Tell them it builds integrity;)

Thanks for the help Bill. I mentioned it to the ladies in the house(3). Went over like a turd in a punch bowl.
