06 has been sticky coming out of park. Wife brought truck back from town put on e brake shifted to park but key would not go all the way to off and therefore was stuck in ignition. I know I need to put the kit in the valve body that fixes sticky park problem but what else is messed up now? Thanks for any help.

Did you turn the wheel a little and make sure it isn't jamming on the steering wheel lock? Setting the parking brake and then putting it in neutral does not always get park in the transmission and a little too much bind on the wheels will stick the ignition switch form going to off. If none of that works it is probably the switch itself.

I did the cable adj procedure in the manual (twice) and lubed everything up at steering column. It works ok now but still a little sticky coming out of park. I got the bullet replacement for the rooster comb from Goerend Trans but I'm dreading R and Ring the valve body. I think that is the real fix. I guess I'll just have to bite the bullet.

The bullet isn't the whole fix. You need to remove the rooster and ground off the little edge (looks like a little ski jump) that causes the bind.

Thanks Prairie Dog. Since my last post things have gone from bad to worse. What appeared to be a very minor leak from the torque converter housing went major on me coating the entire underside of the truck with trans fluid. We reached out on facebook and got high recommendations for a trans shop one and a half hours south of us. Googled the shop and got high ratings all the way up to sled pullers and drag racers(not that is what i do). I called and talked to the owner and he seemed very familiar with 48RE trans. Only problem is two week waiting list to get in. AAA will haul truck to shop Oct. 2. I'm a little disappointed about the cost of this since the previous owner had a complete rebuild not long before we bought the truck. I think its important to get to the right shop. I'll let y'all know how it works out in a few weeks. John

I forgot to mention that before I called and talked to the shop owner I read every thread I could find that cerberusiam( who seems to have encyclopedic knowledge of these transmissions) had posted. then I told Don the problems: the leak, sticking in park and shuttle shifting at light throttle and then listened. The only thing he could not comment on was the leak. " That could be a number of things." John
