Has anyone had any problem with their key switches? Today, after shutting off my engine, I turned the key backwards to listen to the radio and the radio would not come on. Wiggled the key and it came on. Then, in the run position, wiggling the key caused the radio to quit.

How hard is it to change out a key switch?

Thanks,

Blake

I am not familiar with the 3rd gen. truck but most of the switches are mounted on the steering col. just below the dash and connected to the key/lock mechanism by a rod. bg

Switch problem

Mine has an intermittent problem in that the accessory position often doesn't light the radio, yet the radio will be on. I believe there was a thread about this something on the order of 3 or 4 months ago that several people reported similar problems...

i've been having the exact same problem with my ignition switch. some of the "quality" or lack there of on some of their stuff (like the paper thin lower body paint) reminds me of the 1980's chrysler co. sometimes i feel like i paid a lot of money for great engine that came with a free truck. talking to other guys i know with ctd dodges if the ctd were offered in other trucks we're not "married" to dodge and would consider another brand if we could still get the ctd.

Do you guys have particularly heavy keychains? That might damage the key cylinder over time. Easiest solution might simply be to replace it.

My radio has NEVER lit up on ACC.

My switch works fine but of I bump it slightly while running, I often get a bunch of lights lit up ABS, check engine, seatbelt, etc. (engine keeps running though)

I can live with what it's doing right now, as long as it doesn't get worse. I assume no one has gotten stuck anywhere when their switch fails? Wish I had the option of just wiring up the shut off like I could on my beloved 12 valve.
