Keyless entry to go FOB battery life

Truck is coming up on 4 years old and today I saw a EVIC message about FOB battery low. What are people seeing for FOB battery life? Search did not turn up much. I think my DW 2004 Buick Rainier is still on the OEM FOB batteries.

I have 3 fobs for my ‘14 which has “keyless go” aka the button to start, and I started changing batteries last year. You will get a battery low warning for that. Very simple to change.

Changed mine on my 2014 this year, over 5 years with them, but never changed the ones on my 99 Superduty in nearly 16 years, no idea why the difference . Maybe the remote start ,and the other things .

Don’t forget that with the old fobs, they only turn on when a button is pushed, like a tv remote. These new fobs are always emitting a signal.

That is what I was going to post! Or it is listening for a ping from the truck!

I don’t think the truck emits anything. The truck has a system of antennas. To know if you’re approaching the vehicle, or are sitting in it.

I change ALL my batteries once a year. Cooking thermometer, MC and Truck fobs smokies etc.

I had a '15 Journey and it started giving me that message less than a year old. It just ate batteries from then on.......?? It's gone now. It turned into a Grand Caravan. My '11 Ram 2500 CTD has the FOB that inserts like a key. Still on original Battery.............

Did the message appear BEFORE or AFTER the battery change?

Can you lock and unlock the doors with the FOB?

Thanks for the replies. The “Wrong FOB” message appeared both before and after I changed the battery. And yes, I can still unlock the truck with the fob. I only get the message when I insert the fob and turn to start.
