keyless entry ?

does anyone else have a silencer keyless entry system? one was installed on my truck from the factory and it sucks, it only works from 3 feet from the truck. does anyone know how i can increase that range.

Look at the aftermarket stuff. I have an Astro Flex Astro start on mine and had it on since Aug. of 98 with no problems. I have the remote start feature and love it. I lived in Alaska when I got it, and it is nice if the power goes out or I can't plug in the truck for the heating element, the truck will start by itself and warm itself up at a preset temp. The new remotes have a good range, almost 1/4 mile.



If your truck is a standard transmission Asto Flex does make a very cool one for it. It works with three lasers that can tell if the trans. is in neutral by the position of the shifter. I only have experience with the Astro Flex. I am sure others will chime in with other brands.

You may want to check the battery in your key ring remote. Weak battery limits range.

My daughter had one act similar to yours on her Honda. Dealer fixed it in two minutes by removing the remote cover holding the lock button down while standing about 30 feet from the car and fine tuning a screw with a plastic screwdriver till the doors locked. I took the remote apart later and saw that there was only one adjustment screw, looked like an RF coil.

You're basically tuning the remote and truck unit to the same "station". Plastic screwdriver is important, make your own.
