Kia Cars???

I have been looking into a eco box for a while and have heard some good things about the kia line. Anyone out there have any praise or horror stories about their products? We are looking at a 2006 Kia Rio 39,000 miles, 5spd, A/C, CD player and no other options.

Kia(actually a subsidiary of Hyundai), has had a good track record over the last few years. The only real downside has been that once a vehicle is out of warranty, parts can be problematic except through dealerships. The good news is that production is being shifted to the U. S. with the opening of their new plant in GA. This is bringing a lot of their suppliers over as well and may help parts availability. Also, consider a new Rio. They can currently be bought new for less than $10K with a 100K warranty.

Well, we wound up with a brand new (cant find any used ones for less than new price!!!) 2008 Toyota Yaris 5spd 3 door in metallic blue.

I have never liked small cars but this thing is growin on me, and fast!

The car is very smooth and handles well with the only major downside being the engine noise. But I have some plans to install some Dynamic Accoustics products since they made such a difference in my 02. We also looked into the Honda Fit before buying and found it to be slightly quieter but with a much harsher ride, seats were not as comfortable, about $3,000 more out the door, and I do not have the confidence in a Honda (know a few people with falling apart 2-3 year old Honda cars) that I do with a Toyota.



All in all we are very pleased with the new car and the best part was after leaving the dealer we drove to a saturday night car show to meet some friends and on the way home we topped of the car and it only took $1. 50 of gas! I started to feel the pain knowing that following her in the 01 had cost about $5. 00:{

Rumor also has it they are going to build diesel engines at the Georgia plant. That WOULD be awesome! An "affordable" diesel car or suv would be GREAT!
