Isn't the "kickdown" cable the same as is referred to as the TV or throttle valve cable? If so, I believe you do need it for the transmission to function properly.

I would think it would shift into OD anyway. Howard is right, you need it because it increases pressure as you push the pedal. Without it the trans should shift as if you are using very light throttle.

I did a man to auto. conversion and took it for a short drive and it seems to shift ok, but cant get it to go into O. D. The spring is on the kickdown cable lever but i havent gotten a cable yet. It went into od a couple times but it wont again.

that is a tps/voltage prob. tv cable is for downshifts and proper spacing between shifts. not an expert, but they should be independent

howard, I've swapped the complete wiring harness out of an auto. so everything should be like factory, including the tps and wiring for the solenoids. Everything should be right. Gotta get that kickdown cable and figure out the od trouble.

Bandit, maybe i'll try a buddies tps. Hope it all works out good.
