I am looking to install a kill switch to help prevent the theft of my truck. I'm thinking of putting it somewhere under the dash around the steering column. Is there an easy way to do this on an 01 2500? I guess what I'm after is, is there a simple cut to a wire and installation of a switch I can do?

yes there is. i don't know the color but i did this on my 2005 i had. i found the wire for ignition or fuel pump under dadh and wired on a toggle only i knew where it was. if yours is a manual you may tap into the nss also.
i will do some digging because i plan on doing this eventually as well

On a automatic or manual you could always tap into the neutral/clutch switch, don't tap it at the switch do it under the dash. You could also tap/splice the starter solenoid wire. then run it into thru the firewall run up to the steering wheel or where ever and put a toggle switch. If it is parked a lot just remove the starter relay. Most thieves won't take the time to look under the hood.

Proximity switches are pretty good for anti-theft as there's no manual switch for the thieves to find, and you can hind the sensor. Meaning, the only one who can drive the truck is the person with the fob. :)
