Rendered the monster harmless. Would have taken about 3 hours but I had to tinker around while I has there. Also replaced the tracking bar -- what a big diff THAT made!
I used the TST tab kit. Was A bit spendy for what you get but it had The big Dummies step by step guide. The worst part of the whole ordeal was the #@%&* raditor drain plug. I attemped to drain a couple of gallons so I could remove the top Rad. hose. The little pest would not quit leaking so of course I am laying on my back for a better look, trying to figgure the thing out and out she comes! When it came out the o-rings went into orbit and I had no idea there any on it and could not figure how it sealed?? Had to change soaked rompers then went right to TDR to find the facts. Looks like I am not the only one that has had a go round with it! Grab a couple of pallets to stand on and this job is easy even for a novice. The real monster is in your head - just get to it and you will see putting it off is more brain strain than doing it! The TST kit has good photos in case youdon't know where you are headed. They go a little overboard and have you torque the fan shroud bolts to 50 in-lb, so in my opinion you don't need the inch lb torque wrench they list for the job. My cover gasket was as new so I didn't even have to scrape gasket. It stayed with the cover in one piece. My bolts under the cover got the Loctite treatment also as they were not tight but were'nt loose either. Now I can sleep knowing the monster is KILLED! Oo.
