Obviously, the KDP(Killer Dowl Pin) exists but we do not know who it will effect or when. Of course, due to the potentially catastrophic effect, it is definately worth a proactive approach.
Unless a survey is mailed to ALL TDR MEMBERS in a TDR issue, we will probably not get enough info to properly analyze this problem.

I propose adding the appropriate info to the end of your signature.
1) Everyone will eventually at least become aware of the fact that this problem exists. Otherwise, the critical info appears on the website & basically just disappears over time. Yes, an article will appear in the next TDR issue but this too will not be read by everyone, especially those that becomes a member after this issue is already out(How many of you ordered all the back issues & read them after you became a member?)
2) Hopefully, the moderators or someone will figure out a way to use that info (that would now be in everyones signature) to quantify that info automatically.

i. e. KDP 130,000 2/32nds M(movement)-J(Jig) insurance
i. e. KDP 125,000 NM(No Movement)-WT(Washer Tab) Fix

With this type of info in everyone's sig, a pattern should rear its ugly head for all to see. Its certainly a "modification" or "upgrade" just like any other worth mentioning.
Just an idea...
What do ya'll think?

Great Idea! I am all for it. When I first registered online with this site I did not know what the signature ment? Thought it was my personal hand written one they wanted. How do you add that info onto your ID? I can't get back to that spot again.
When I remove my cover,if I find that the pin was on its way out it will be posted here. year of truck included.

Just go into your "Profile" & update.
Then either learn the UBB code to fancy it up or see how others did theirs & imitate.

Sounds good to me!

I've mentioned this in another thread, but couldn't TDR compile a list of all members, by username, that have either had to repair the damage or discovered the dowel pin on their engines slipping?
I think at a minimum, all the above info should be added, but in addition, the engine serial number is a must. This would serve to prove the extent of this problem and maybe narrow it down to a certain block of serial numbers.
Heck, I'll even take on the task of compiling this data if members are interested and will e-mail their information.

The problem has showed up in all of the engines with the P7100 pump from what I've read in the various posts to these forums.

The ser# idea is EXCELLENT #ad

Now, which # would be best?
1) The serial #?
2) The Engine #?
3) The Engine Family #?

I'm thinking the actual engine # might provide the best information?

Mike

My engine# is completely numeric, hence this may provide an easy pattern to recognize, whereas the Ser# might take a litte more analysis.

i. e. 1b7kf26cxrs634163 vs 56165605
