Competition Bristol in the books....

Competition Good turnout

Has any put grooves (1-2) grooves on slicks to make them kinda look street legal? I was gonna try to put some by turning them... but I remember right the rubber does not like to be cut like this. JB

Why dont you see if Mickey Thompson makes some ET Streets to your liking. Thats what they are, a drag slick with 2 grooves in them to make them DOT legal. So technically, they have a tread.

What size tire are you looking for?

Is it the height or the width that you are unable to find?

I know if you a want a 29" tall street legal then Mickey won't cover it. But, they cover just about every other height.

RNR is right.

MH makes a very good tire.

I have used them and had great results.

They're actually the tire that are on my truck right now.

"ET street" is a D. O. T legal slick ... . not sure on sizes

keep in mind any good soft compond tire will work well on and off the track

Hooser is a great tire also..... i used many of set's on my pro street car

To directly answer the original question, yes, I have groved MANY tires... both street and race tires. I bought a tire groving tool on E-bay a few years ago for about $50. It works very well.

I looked at everything and the size am looking for only comes in a true slick. . This car only needs to pass visible inspection. keimmmo I just searched e-bay and somebody is selling them for 59 bucks.

No shock that they have gone up a little. I bought a 1/8 inch wide cutter for mine since the 1/4 inch cutter it came with was widder than I wanted. It seems to me that it cost $60-70 at the time with the extra cutter.

What I have is a pistol grip that heats a loop shaped cutter. You have to let it warm up before it will work right. But, when it gets hot enough, it slices through the rubber like butter!

R-N-R, I've got 33x15. 50x16 M&H cheaters for mine. .

I had read that 31. 5" was the tallest tire I could fit under my 2wd. I see you have 33", did you have to fab you wheel wells?

I moved my springs inside the frame rails to allow for the wide tire and 12'' wide wheel. . The 33's fit my dually wheel wells great before I went with a different truck. .

I have a line on a used set of 15x14 32" Goodyear slicks for an excellent price. I have to decide today whether I should stick with the 16" M&H slicks I have on order, or change direction and order 15" wheels if I want to try and get them mounted before the TS event this weekend. The 15" decision will save me about $450 between the tires, tubes, and a set of steel wheels.

There is about 1/4" clearance between the caliper and the 16" wheel. So I will need to grind the caliper to get at least 1/8" clearance for the 15" wheel.

Anybody have any input on this??
