Big Cam 855

Scotty II on order!!

I have been reading the discussions about KN air filters, no I'm not starting any new pro/con debate. It seems to me if one follows the directions when servicing the filter and has a stock truck their should be no major problems? T he filter appears to be constructed with thought in mind and these people have been manufacturing filters for a long time.

The one thing which keeps coming up is to much oil residue getting in the turbo blades etc. With this in mind it comes back to following directions. I sure love the sound of the turbo whine, makes you feel like your in a big rig. My plan is to evaluate very closely for the next several thousand miles.

By the way how does one get oil samples tested? Should I contact a Cummins dealer?

Thanks

air filter

hey ak let me make a suggestion, buy the afe megacannon from mr. bobs complete kit 245. 00. also take the silencer ring out of the turbo and listen to it sing to ya. and if you havnt yet, get you a chip and gauges and your truck will love you long time.

:D :p :D

Oil Samples

You can purchase oil sample bottles and sampling equipment from your Cummins distributor. The cost of the sample bottle includes the testing and report. You can check this out further by following the fluid sampling link on the Fleetguard site, www.fleetguard.com. The contractor that performs this service for Cummins is Monitor. They are located in Indiana.

K&N

I used a K&N in my old 1st gen truck for over 200,000 miles. I followed the directions and never had a trace of oil on the turbo vanes. It worked great and the truck ran great. I haven't put one in the new truck yet, but will when the warranty expires.

The old truck is still in town with over 270,000 miles on it and it still runs great.

I'll second what Shovelhead mentioned about the Scotty 2. It comes with an AFE filter (Pretty much the same as the K&N... maybe a little better quality), and you won't find a better EGT reducing intake. It gives a sweet turbo whine, too :D

Installed an afe megacannon on a friend's truck a couple of weeks ago - not impressed. He's going back to his airbox K&N.

Barely used Megacannon for sale.

Why wait until warranty is out?
